Divan Ottoman Beds

A divan ottoman combines the two storage systems: an upholstered divan base that lifts as a single unit on gas struts, giving you the entire area under the mattress as one uninterrupted space with no drawer runners eating into it.

This is the range to look at if storage is the main reason you are buying the bed. There are no internal divisions, so long or awkward items — a folded travel cot, a rolled rug, boxed Christmas decorations — go in flat rather than being wedged into drawer boxes.

How it opens

Most bases here lift from the foot end, which needs about 60cm of clear floor at the end of the bed. Side-lift versions are available where a bed sits with its foot against a wall. The struts hold the base open unaided and lower slowly under control.
