How many pocket springs do you need?

1000 pocket springs suits guest rooms, children and lighter sleepers — responsive, well supported and the best value in the range. 2000 is the sensible default for a main bed shared by two adults: more springs means each one is smaller, so the mattress follows your shape more closely and transfers less movement across the bed. 3000 is for heavier builds or anyone who wants the firmest support with a pillow-top surface.

Each spring sits in its own fabric pocket and compresses independently, which is why a partner turning over does not roll you with them.

Memory foam and orthopaedic

Is a 1000 pocket sprung mattress good?

Yes, for the right bed. What is the difference between 1000, 2000 and 3000 pocket springs?

The number is how many individual pocket springs the mattress has, so a higher number means more, smaller springs. More springs track your body more closely and isolate movement better. The 3000 is also the firmest sprung mattress in our range.

What is a pillow top mattress?

A mattress with an extra quilted comfort layer stitched onto the top. It feels softer when you first lie down, while the springs underneath do the supporting. It can't be flipped, only rotated. Read what a pillow top mattress is and who it suits.

What is a sprung mattress?

Any mattress with a core of steel springs. In a pocket sprung mattress each spring sits in its own fabric pocket and moves on its own, so a partner turning over doesn't roll you with them. All our sprung mattresses are pocket sprung.
